D Morgan continues its long tradition of investment in youth training

Working with the CITB D Morgan currently have 39 young people undergoing a two year training course for plant operatives. They spend 12 weeks at the CITB’s training centre at Bircham Newton. They then work on a full range of plant that D Morgan operates including dozer, excavator, articulated dumper, dump truck and roller tractor, visiting a number of D Morgan’s sites.
On our contract on the £250 million Stafford Area Improvement Programme on the West Coast Main Railway Line for the Staffordshire Alliance, we have had 26 apprentices working with a further 6 to appear in August. The picture shows trainee Mike Kennedy working on a dump truck on the Stafford Area Improvement Programme. Mike said "this is a great opportunity for me with Morgans, I am really enjoying the work and look forward to working on the dozers".
16 of the apprentices recruited by D Morgan are local to the project, from north Staffordshire and south Cheshire.
To date we have retained all of our 39 trainee plant operative apprentices.
This investment is additional to the apprenticeships  that D Morgan have run for many years with Reaseheath College for plant maintenance and continuing support for graduate training with year out students in civil engineering and quantity surveying from universities.
