Further awards on the Staffordshire Alliance’s West Coast Main Railway Line improvements.

D Morgan has continued its success in winning further significant civil engineering work packages on the £250 million Stafford Area Improvement Programme on the West Coast Main Railway Line for the Staffordshire Alliance, with the award of a £2m highway improvement works package.
As the Lead Earthworks Partner to the Alliance, D Morgan has undertaken the construction of haul roads, river diversions, drainage works, the three site compounds, road junction improvements, structures excavations and piling/working platforms and the bulk cut and fill excavation for the new high speed railway lines and rail head.
The highways works are to realign Searchlight Lane, the B5026 Road and Meece Road including the Meece Roundabout with a phased tie in of new roads into the existing Staffordshire County Council Highways. Major service diversions are also included in the works. The highway works ensure that the project works for the Staffordshire Alliance facilitate the continued operation of the highways with the minimum disruption to existing traffic.
The Staffordshire Alliance comprising of Atkins, Laing O'Rourke, Network Rail and VolkerRail, are responsible for the successful delivery of the Stafford improvements, covering disciplines including trackworks, civils (structures, earthworks), signalling, telecommunications, highways alterations, river and pipeline diversions.
