Ministerial Visit to Surf Snowdonia

17-Feb-2015

We were delighted to welcome Welsh Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism, Ken Skates, to our Surf Snowdonia site for Conwy Adventure Leisure.  The Welsh Government has made a significant financial investment in Surf Snowdonia. During his visit the minister was pleased to hear why Surf Snowdonia has already an international following and the benefits that Surf Snowdonia is already bringing to this part of North Wales.  D Morgan PLC has utilised a significant number of local suppliers and contractors working on the site and supplemented our workforce with local labour.
Sustainability is a priority for D Morgan and the Minister learnt that in remediating the former Dolgarrog Aluminium works we have crushed and reused 25,000 cubic metres of onsite material as well as recycling 400 tonnes of steel, cast iron and copper from the former industrial site  85% of the stone we have used in construction is recycled.
The minister’s visit was followed by a tour from Dolgarrog Community Council led by Councillor Hilary Rogers-Jones. The Community Council have been very supportive towards this large construction project located in the middle of their community.
Surf Snowdonia will bring a £7.7m wave garden with a lagoon, water slide, wakeboard lake, lodges, restaurant, to Dolgarrog, Conwy Valley, in a project that will cement the region’s growing reputation as the UK’s adventure capital. Minister Ken Skates said “I look forward to returning to try the activities at Surf Snowdonia over the summer."
