    Flood alleviation works for the Environment Agency, to the River Mawddach to improve tidal and fluvial flood protection within Fairbourne and the surrounding areas, protecting over 400 properties.

Scope of Works & Achievements

  • Strengthening of flood defence embankments along various stretches of the Mawddach Estuary between in Fairbourne and Arthog
  • 2km of flood embankment strengthening work North of Fairbourne Town centre
  • New revetment stone pitching on existing embankment at Arthog
  • Strengthening of flood bank at Arthog
  • New sheet piling and strengthening work at Arthog and Mawddach
  • Culvert installation
  • Realignment and strengthening works to the existing flood bank protecting Fairbourne
  • Import, tip, spread, level and compact fill to form widened bund
  • Import fill to form new bund alignment areas (2 No. areas)
  • Remove existing bund where new alignment has been formed
