Project - Canada Graving Dock
We’ve created land in Liverpool!!
We recently completed the infill of Canada Graving Dock, turning the redundant dock into usable land for Peel Ports . Using a combination of dredged and land won Class 1A sand, we placed circa 109,000m3 directly into the water to achieve a minimum of 90% compaction - after the safe removal of its wildlife of course, including a conger eel! The infill was retained with a 7,000m3 6B revetment core & 1,600m3 of Rock Armour, all placed using one of the UK’s largest land based long reach excavators, WM Plant Hire 's CAT 385 using Leica Geosystems GPS Machine Control. Finally, capped with 14,000m3 of 6F2, generated from the demolition of derelict buildings within the Port and finally topped off with 2,500m3 of Type 1 Subbase. The project presented numerous technical challenges along the way however it was delivered to a high quality standard on time and within budget with minimal disruption to the local stakeholders. A great, collaborative effort from the D Morgan Team, its supply chain partners, Peel Ports and S Norton. Time Lapse by Yonda aerial systems ltd
