Major Development Project:

Omega is a £1bn, 233-hectare mixed-use development site on part of the former Burtonwood Airbase in Warrington, Cheshire, situated off Junction 8 of the M62. As a joint venture regeneration project, Omega provides a range of affordable houses, and community shopping and leisure facilities. The development is set within 35-acre areas of landscaping, woodland, parkland and wildlife areas.
Our dedication, commitment, and mutual respect between Client and Contractor resulted in repeat and ongoing work on the project:

Our Involvement as Principal Contractor:

D Morgan has had a continuous presence on the Omega Development, being the key delivery partner of choice for the various Clients, and for Miller Developments, the land owner. WSP undertook the design for the project, and it was best decided to amend the contract to Design & Build. D Morgan Plc collaborated with WSP to deliver the design, where we accepted full design responsibility (see table, below). 
We were approached in January 2008 to demolish the existing World War II aircraft hangers and runways, and to recycle the existing hard standings. From this early involvement we developed a strong working relationship with the Client and commenced the infrastructure works to the north of the site on various plots adjacent to the M62. Once the north plots had been developed we commenced works to the south of the development, continuing ground remediation, construction of spine roads and extensive hard and soft landscaping. 
From our extensive involvement in the overall development plan, we were approached by private Developers and have completed their individual plot infrastructure requirements ranging from extensive warehousing through to housing developments.
In addition we are responsible for the completion of the realignment of the slip roads and roundabout to M62 Junction 8 for Balfour Beatty through the SCAPE Framework.
